Located in Heidelberg just 15 minutes from Melbourne CBD and within an hour's drive of the Yarra Valley and bike paths along the Yarra Trail. Austin Rise is a short walking distance from the Austin, Mercy and Warringal Private Hospitals, Melbourne Brain Centre, and Florey Neurosciences Institutes. The Heide Gallery with its beautiful heritage gardens, art gallery and award winning restaurant is 5 minutes away and the Montsalvat Function Centre & heritage buildings is a 10 minute drive.
Austin Rise is close to the Yarra Flats Reserve, the flood plain for the river and a wonderful area to view local wildlife. The walking trails meander along the riverside and through woodlands where you can find waterbirds such as egrets and ibis, several species of ducks and the colourful Laughing Kookaburras, Rainbow Lorikeets, Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and Red-tailed Black Cockatoos. Kangaroos and wallabies are regularly sighted here.

Soft fluffy towels and bathrobes provided. A BBQ on an outdoor deck overlooking the garden is a pleasant space to relax and gourmet lunch packs are available on request.

Brett & Beverley were wonderful hosts. We stayed at Austin Rise for four nights and during that time were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Our Withers room was very comfortable with evaporative A/C and ceiling fan which we needed on a 43C day in Melbourne. Great breakfast and very comfortable mattress. Our hosts even offered to drive us to and fro a family wedding. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

When our plans to stay with my sister went pearshaped we booked with Brett and Beverley simply because it was convenient, but what a wonderful place it turned out to be. Our plans went from uncertain to changeable and they took it all in their stride. Quite simply nothing was too much trouble. Brett's breakfasts were the best we had during our 6 week trip! A big bonus for us, who were at the start of a big birdwatching trip in Australia, was the accessibility to the Yarra Flats wildlife reserves. Within minutes of leaving the house you were surrounded by parrots and kangaroos. We plan to come back to Melbourne and will definitely head for Austin Rise again.

Austin Rise is a absolute gem and the best place to stay by far when visiting Melbourne. It is more than worth travelling a bit, just to be there. Brett and Beverly are genuine and warm people, yet unobtrusive. The rooms are very clean, the bed and facilities excellent and what a joy to be able to open windows! Brett cooks up a sumptuous breakfast and nothing seems too much trouble to them. Austin Rise is situated close to a beautiful park that is lovely to walk through and my husband and I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone needing somewhere good to stay within the wider Melbourne precinct. It has a heart.
