Hatherley House is an 1830's grand mansion listed on the National Estate Register and located within walking distance to the Launceston city centre. The house has two self contained suites, where original grandeur has been retained and combined with ultra modern elements for an outstanding result. The mansion is surrounded by a picturesque english parkland garden.

Within the heritage gardens of Hatherley House are two garden pavilion rooms. Innovative in design, these contemporary, eco-friendly retreats were inspired by chinese lanterns. They feature moon windows within origami like roof forms, and are filled with striking art throughout. Private outdoor areas complete with a luxurious carved stone outdoor bath within an exquisite garden setting make the garden pavilions an experience to remember.

Nearby in the centre of the inner city, Hatherley Birrell Collection offers an incredible modern architectural two bedroom apartment, with full kitchen, laundry, two bathrooms and two private outdoor areas.

Petite Matisse

La petite chambre Matisse is furnished in the french empire style of the 18th and 19th century and features a rare colour lithograph, 'Poemes de Charles d'Orleans' by renowned french impressionist Henri Matisse. A large scale contemporary graphic was inspired by a poem discovered on the verso in Matisse's handwriting, which transcribes in 15th Century french Charles d'Orleans poem. The result is stunning.

Antique elements contrast with a lavish and generous modern translucent glass and stainless steel bathroom. Equipped with a kitchenette and local breakfast provisions, Petite Matisse has tall heritage windows to enjoy the view of a century old magnolia set in Hatherley's charming gardens.

The Ballroom

Once the ballroom of Hatherley House, with French doors, high ceilings, spectacular Italianate marble fireplace and original ornate gilt mirror this suite has been re-designed to retain all its original heritage magnificence and style yet transformed into lavish, breathtakingly contemporary art accommodation, showcasing artwork inspired by contemporary dance company Tasdance performing 'Heart Matters', which provides a spectacular backdrop.

This self contained accommodation is accessed by stairs and is equipped with a kitchenette and local breakfast provisions. Enjoy a sumptuous modern translucent glass bathroom with spa or relax on a private balcony overlooking Ben Lomond mountain and the Hatherley’s rich and evocative english parkland gardens.
