The Red Feather is a collection of notable historic sandstone buildings constructed by famed colonial Georgian architect John Sprunt with convict labour in 1842 and was one of the first coaching inns in Van Diemen's Land. Cordon Bleu chef and francophile Lydia Nettlefold has reinvigorated this historical assemblage by infusing the Georgian architecture with French provincial themes. Add the ultimate in modern comfort and a unique ambience is created in this endemic Tasmanian heritage treasure, now the perfect luxury retreat for intimate getaways or very special gatherings. All suites and rooms are beautifully appointed and overlook the secluded garden, each featuring superior quality beds, state of the art bathrooms and gas log fires. Crystal chandeliers hang from ceilings, Alessi wall clocks and framed Provencal linens decorate the hallways of the Inn, and there are beautiful touches at every turn, complemented by luxurious linens and Molton Brown bath treats. The result is utterly enchanting.
The Red Feather Inn is a truly unique and wonderful venue for weddings and special events. Specialising in small to medium sized weddings it has the ideal combination of picturesque landscapes and enough space to cater for guests. What a wonderful getaway. Only 20 minutes from Launceston airport and what a place. A restored Coach Inn with thick sandstone walls and exquisite interior decor. This and quiet garden courtyard makes it a lovely place to spend time and relax. Lydia is a welcoming, gracious host and we loved the intimate restaurant. We'll be back and for longer next time.

The charm of this place is the quality experience without the pretension that usually comes with places of this standard. We stayed for three wonderful nights and one night seven of us ate in the converted stables. Totally charming. The staff went to extra lengths to make sure everything went smoothly. We were bowled over by the many little touches - fresh flowers from the garden throughout the property, curious sculptures and other artefacts stumbled upon by chance, fresh fruit from the orchard, magnificent bed linen, special requests fulfilled as though it was no extra trouble. We had two rooms for the two couples, and we moved into one of the cottages when the party grew to seven.

We travelled from the Sunshine Coast recently to attend my niece's wedding at the historic and picturesque Red Feather Inn. Everything about the day was perfect, from the idyllic setting, the friendly and helpful staff, generous servings of yummy food and drinks, to the wonderful acoustic guitarist. Even the weather was a perfect 24 degrees. A beautiful occasion in a beautiful venue. Thanks Lydia for making this day so special for our family.

My daughter's wedding last weekend was the most beautiful and in the most romantic setting that I've attended. The Bride and Bridesmaids stayed the night before . The pre-wedding dinner for the bridal party and partners had a diverse menu and was superb. I arrived for a beautifully prepared breakfast on the wedding day which included fresh, warm raspberry muffins and croissants. The Library Room, with great spaces for hairdressers and make-up artists, was ideal for the five girls to be together to get ready. This made the day flow smoothly. The garden was lush and manicured with plenty of seating for guests prior to the ceremony. Lydia and her staff were very accommodating and did all they could to make it a perfect day.
