Stay in a sweet chalet at Heimat Chalets, on 100 acres of picturesque farmland in the heart of Derwent Valley, north west of Hobart. This gorgeous little hideaway with 2 bedrooms was built locally, and is located on a farmstay property with many animals such as friendly alpacas, sheep, cows, a miniature donkey and goats. Cook sausages in the very rustic communal BBQ hut, while you enjoy a glass of chilled wine, or a couple of lagers.
There is much to see and do around New Norfolk, Tasmania's antique capital. Try some seasonal trout fishing - permit required - or visit the nearby Salmon Ponds, a heritage trout hatchery, gardens and museum. Take some cooking classes at The Agrarian Kitchen, a sustainable farm based cooking school. Take a whiskey tour at the nearby Redlands Estate. Visit Russell Falls or the fabulous Styx Forest, and see the tallest trees on earth.
Upstairs is a bedroom with a king size bed and downstairs has a queen. Fully air-conditioned. There is a wonderful BBQ facility for use by all guests, with a cosy log fire for chilly evenings..

We stayed in the gypsy wagon for valentines day 2015 and found it comfortable. The end suite next door is spacious and well appointed. The owners are warm and friendly and their crazy border collie pup is just gorgeous. In all I can't fault spending a night in the gypsy wagon.

Quirky and unique! We stayed in the Gypsy Wagon at Heimat Chalets for only one night, but would have loved to stay longer! The wagon was beautifully decorated with wonderful attention to detail - everything from the red chandelier to the toaster and kettle were suited to the gypsy theme! Everything we needed was there and beautifully presented. A lovely breakfast (including homemade jam) was provided. Both the wagon and the bathroom were very clean and tidy, and there were lovely peaceful bush views from the wagon...
